Café Barriers for Caffé Aperitivo

Most people think of café barriers as a pavement thing. Caffè Aperitivo in Leeds used them at the counter inside their café as well as on the outdoor terrace.

Here’s what they ordered, how they used them, and what it looked like.

Venue type: Independent workplace coffee shop
Location: ABC Building, White Rose Office Park, Millshaw Park Lane, Leeds LS11 0DL
Website: caffeaperitivo.com

Caffè Aperitivo is a five-star rated independent coffee shop at White Rose Office Park in Leeds. They serve expertly roasted coffee and food to office workers Monday to Friday, and run a stall at farmers’ markets around Leeds at weekends.

What did they need?

Running a café kiosk inside a large, shared office building presents a specific problem. How do you make your space feel like yours? Without any branding, a counter in the corner of an open atrium can disappear into the background.

They also had an outdoor terrace in front of the building to work with. Two different settings, same underlying need to add visible branding and a clear sense of where the café begins.

What we supplied

Caffè Aperitivo chose our budget café barriers with 300gsm PVC mesh banners and 1.2m cross rails. Short enough not to obstruct movement around the kiosk, but still large enough to carry clear branding at eye level.

Outdoor terrace area:

  • 4 x budget café barrier bases and poles
  • 2 x 1.2m cross rails
  • 2 x 300gsm PVC mesh café barrier banners (1.2m)
  • Bungees & connectors

The barriers flank the outdoor seating area and mark it as Caffè Aperitivo’s space. The orange bistro furniture and grey branded barriers make for a clean, inviting setup.

Indoor area:

3 x budget café barrier bases and poles
2 x 1.2m cross rails
2 x 300gsm PVC mesh café barrier banners (1.2m)
Bungees & connectors

The barriers sit in front of the kiosk inside the café, creating a clear boundary at the service point. It defines where customers queue and puts the branding at eye level.

Running a similar venue?

Café barriers aren’t just for restaurants and pubs with pavement seating. If you operate a coffee kiosk, a food-to-go counter, a workplace café, or a stall in a shared space, branded café barriers in front of the counter are worth considering. They define your territory, display your brand at eye level, and help customers immediately understand where to go.

Rail length:

1.2m is a good choice for counter setups. For outdoor seating areas or larger enclosures, 1.5m or 1.8m rails give you more coverage per section and work out more cost-effective at scale.

Mesh vs PVC

Caffè Aperitivo used mesh for both settings. Mesh works indoors and out, prints clearly, and for an outdoor terrace, it’s the safer material choice as wind passes through rather than pushing against it.

Base weight

The 11.5kg budget bases are easy to move, which matters when you’re setting up and breaking down a market stall every weekend. For a permanent outdoor setup in an exposed location, the 15kg premium bases offer more stability.
