Looking for the best crowd barrier covers for your budget? This guide breaks down how barrier cover pricing works, compares the main options by cost and value, and helps you choose the right cover based on how often you’ll use them and what you need them to do.

Are barrier covers worth it?

Before talking price, it’s worth asking whether crowd barrier covers are actually worth the investment, especially if you’re working to a tight budget.

Without barrier covers, your crowd barriers are bare metal. They look industrial, communicate nothing, and do nothing for your brand or your event. If you’re paying to run an event or promote a business, that’s a missed opportunity.

With barrier covers, those same barriers become a branded display. At a local event, a pop-up, a farm attraction, or a market, they tell people who you are before they’ve even walked over.

For bigger events like festivals, concerts or sports, they’re how sponsors get seen, how crowds get guided, and how the whole thing looks more professional on camera and in photos.

The short version: yes, they’re worth it. The question is just which type gives you the best return for what you’re spending.

What affects the cost of crowd barrier covers?

The price of crowd barrier covers comes down to three main things:

  1. Style – which type of cover you choose (Solo, Poncho, Standard, or Premium)
  2. Material – PVC mesh or polyester airmesh; PVC mesh is always cheaper upfront
  3. Quantity – the more you order, the lower the cost per cover

All our barrier covers are UK-manufactured, B1 fire rated, and suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Working through the three steps below will get you to the right option for your budget.

Step 1: Single or double-sided?

This is the most important question, because it immediately narrows down your choices.

Only one side of your barrier will be seen?

This is more common than you’d think. Queues backed against a wall, barriers around a stage, or perimeter fencing where the back is hidden. In these situations, a Solo barrier cover is the right choice. You’re not paying for a second side you don’t need.

Solo covers are the most cost-effective choice when you only need branding on one side of the barrier.

Do both sides need branding?

Then you’re looking at Poncho, Standard, or Premium covers, all of which brand both sides of the barrier. Move on to Step 2.

Step 2: What finish do you want?

If you need double-sided branding, the next question is the finish. This is where budget and presentation start to pull in different directions.

Most professional finish: Premium crowd barrier covers

Premium barrier covers are fully tailored to the shape of the barrier. They fit like a sock with stitched rounded corners and completely hide the metal frame on both sides. Made from 115gsm polyester airmesh, they’re 54% air permeable, and machine washable.

These are the covers you see at concerts, festivals, stadiums, and televised events. If you want the best result, this is it.

Best for: events where appearance matters, regular reuse, outdoor or windy locations, photographed or televised events.

Professional finish, lower price: Standard crowd barrier covers

Standard barrier covers feature stitched angled corners that follow the shape of the barrier and cover both sides. Standard covers are made from 300gsm PVC Mesh rather than airmesh. That brings the price down, though the covers are heavier, more prone to creasing, and less suited to frequent reuse.

Best for: events where a fitted, tidy look matters but budget is a real constraint, or one-off use where reusability isn’t a priority.

Standard covers provide a fitted look at a lower price point by using durable 300gsm PVC mesh.

Most affordable double-sided: Poncho crowd barrier covers

Poncho barrier covers drape over the top of the barrier rather than fitting around it. Both sides are printed, installation is quick, and they work across mixed or non-standard barrier sizes. The fit isn’t as tailored, you can still see some of the barrier at either side of your cover. However, as the cheapest way to get branding on both sides, they’re a popular and practical choice.

Best for: budget events needing double-sided branding, mixed barrier sizes, touring events, fast installation.

Poncho covers are the most budget-friendly double-sided option and are easy to install on various barrier sizes.

Step 3: PVC mesh or polyester airmesh?

Some styles give you a choice of material. Here’s how to decide.

300gsm PVC mesh is the lower upfront cost option. It’s strong and durable, 37% air permeable, and works well for most conditions. It’s a good choice if you’re using covers for a single event or short period and aren’t planning to wash and reuse them repeatedly.

115gsm polyester airmesh costs a bit more upfront, but it’s lighter, 54% air permeable (better in windy locations), machine washable, and crease-resistant. If you plan to reuse your covers across multiple events, airmesh holds up better and can work out cheaper per use over time.

PVC mesh is cheaper upfront. Airmesh is better value if you’re reusing regularly.

Step 4: How many do you need?

Quantity makes a real difference to price. Here’s what an order of 20 covers would cost for each option:

How to get more value from your covers

A few things that can stretch your budget further.

Print different artwork on each side

You can put different branding on the front and back of the same cover e.g. your logo on one side and a sponsor’s branding on the other, or event info on one side and directional signage on the other.

You’re effectively getting two different panels for the price of one cover. It’s a simple way to get more from the same spend, and something a lot of customers don’t realise is an option.

Order in larger quantities

The per-unit price drops meaningfully as you increase your order. If you know you’ll need covers for future events, placing one larger order rather than multiple smaller ones can save you money overall.

Choose airmesh if you plan to reuse

The higher upfront cost is offset across multiple uses. Airmesh covers wash well, crease less, and hold up better over time meaning you won’t need to replace them as often.

No extra charge for multiple designs

We don’t charge for multiple artwork files within the same order. Whether you need 20 different designs or just two, there’s no additional cost for the artwork or setup.

Budget barrier cover FAQs

Which barrier cover is the cheapest?

Solo covers are the cheapest option overall. They’re single-sided, so they work best when barriers are only visible from one direction.

For double-sided branding, Poncho covers in PVC mesh are the most cost-effective option.

Is PVC mesh always the right choice for budget orders?

It’s the cheapest upfront, yes. But if you plan to reuse your covers, it’s worth thinking about the cost across multiple uses rather than just the initial spend. Airmesh covers are machine washable and lighter, so they hold up better with repeated use. The higher upfront cost can work out cheaper over time if you’re washing and reusing them regularly.

Can I have different artwork on each side of a cover?

Yes. You can print different designs on each side of a double-sided cover. This is useful for putting a sponsor’s branding on one side and your own on the other, or for combining event information with directional messaging. We don’t charge extra for this.

Do multiple designs in the same order cost more?

No. There’s no additional charge for multiple artwork files within a single order. You can mix designs freely across your order with no setup fees.

Does quantity affect the price much?

Yes, significantly. Pricing drops at each quantity tier across all styles. If you’re on the edge of a price break, adjusting your quantity slightly to hit the next tier can make a real difference to your overall spend.

Are the covers reusable?

Yes, all our barrier covers are designed for repeated use. Airmesh options (available in Solo, Poncho, and Premium) are machine washable and better suited to regular reuse. PVC mesh covers can also be reused but are heavier and more prone to creasing.

I’m not sure how many barriers I have or what size they are – what do I do?

Most standard UK crowd barriers are 2.3m wide. If you have a mix of sizes, Poncho covers are the most flexible option as they’re not fitted to a specific barrier shape. Give us a call on 01709 432001 and we’ll help you work it out.
